9 Days China Culinary Tour
Day 1 — USA / BEIJING. Tour members gather at the ticket counter at the airport three hours prior to our departure to Beijing. Dinner and breakfast are served in-flight.
Day 2 — BEIJING. Upon arrival in Beijing, you are given a scenic tour of Beijing on the way to your hotel. The rest of the day will be at leisure for you to explore the local fare. Overnight at your hotel.
Day 3 — BEIJING. Today you will begin the day by touring the historic Tiananmen Square, the site of the social uprising against the Chinese government in 1989. You will then take a break to dine at the Green Tea restaurant before heading to the Forbidden City and Summer Palace (including boat ride on Kunming Lake). You will continue to Beijing Fangshan restaurant for dinner before returning to your hotel for overnight.
Day 4 — BEIJING. Today you will begin your sightseeing along the Sacred Road, built by the Ming Dynasty, believed to be the road to heaven. You then break for lunch at the Xiaolumian noodle restaurant for a quick bite before continuing on to the Great Wall (Mutianyu section). Being one of the 7 Wonders of the World, you will be in awe at the sheer magnitude of this structure. You will conclude your day with dinner at the Dadong Restaurant for a traditional Peking Roast duck dinner. Overnight at your hotel.
Day 5 — BEIJING / XIAN. Today you will participate in a traditional Chinese cooking class at famous Fangjia Hutong kitchen. You will then transport to the Beijing Airport for our flight to Xian. Upon arrival you will be transferred to your hotel to settle in before dinner at the Tianxilou restaurant, which serves some of the best local Muslim food in the area. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 6 — XIAN. Today you will start your day off with a visit to the Ancient City Wall which is one of the largest ancient military defense systems in the world. Here you will have time to peruse the local merchants and view local artists’ works. You will then enjoy lunch at the Aegean Sea Restaurant before continuing to see the popular Terracotta Warriors exhibit. We then enjoy the Dumpling banquet with show. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 7 — XIAN / SHANGHAI. This morning we exbark on a half-day excursion to Yuanjiacun food village to explore the local nosh. And enjoy lunch at the Xiaobeike restaurant before we head to the Xian airport for our flight to Shanghai. Upon arrival we are transferred to our hotel and enjoy time at leisure before dinner at the South beauty restaurant (classic hotpot Sichuan dinner). Overnight at your hotel.
Day 8 — SHANGHAI. Your day begins with a morning visit to the Shanghai Museum, which houses the largest collection of Chinese Art in the world. Enjoy a dim sum lunch at the Ding Tai Feng restaurant before you explore the Shanghai Old Streets. From there you head to the Jade Buddha Temple and Xintiandi to do a little shopping. Dinner at LuLu Modern restaurant before overnight at your hotel.
Day 9 — SHANGHAI / USA. This morning we begin our last day in China by exploring the Bund, Nanjing Road, and Jinmao Tower before lunch at the Shanghai Locomotive restaurant. You then transfer to the Shanghai Airport for your flight home after a wonderful journey.
