OBERAMMERGAU PASSION PLAY 2022
DAY 01: USA / ENROUTE. Depart USA for Europe. Breakfast and dinner will be served aloft.
DAY 02: FRANKFURT / HEIDELBERG AREA. Upon arrival at Frankfurt Airport we are met by our tour escort and European motor coach. We enjoy a panoramic tour of the old town of Frankfurt before driving swiftly to picture book Heidelberg, the romantic medieval town on the banks of the River Neckar. Our sightseeing will include a visit to the castle ruins, home of the Student Prince; we will also see the famous Stone Bridge and the University, one of the oldest in the world. Dinner and overnight at our hotel in the Heidelberg area.
DAY 03: HEIDELBERG AREA / ROMANTIC ROAD / OBERAMMERGAU. A wonderful day of touring as we drive to the Romantic Road and see beautiful medieval towns almost untouched by time. Our first visit will be to Rothenburg, a town of medieval ramparts and towers, where we will see the Town Hall, the Protestant Church, St. Jakobskirche and the Spitaltor which is the Hospital Gate. The 16th century walls, turrets and cobblestone lanes have been left almost untouched by the passing centuries. Continue to Dinkelsbuhel whose many towers, gateways and wall are mirrored in the green waters of the town moat. Then via Augsburg, City of the Confession of 1530 and the 1555 Peace of Augsburg ending religious wars and through the Bavarian Alps to the tiny alpine village of Oberammergau, for dinner and overnight.
DAY 04: PASSION PLAY. The entire day is devoted to attending a performance of the world famous Passion Play, performed every ten years in this wonderful setting. Dinner and overnight.
DAY 05: OBERAMMERGAU / MUNICH / PRAGUE. Drive swiftly today past Munich and then northwards into the Czech Republic. Through Plzen, world famous for it's beers, to Prague, considered to be the most enchanting cosmopolitan city in Eastern Europe. Dinner and overnight at our hotel.
DAY 06: PRAGUE. Our morning sightseeing tour will include Hradcany Castle, St. Vitus' Cathedral, the Old Town, the unique Astronomical Clock, Charles Bridge and the old explore this medieval city at your own pace. Dinner and overnight at your hotel.
DAY 07: PRAGUE / SALZBURG. Today we drive across the countryside and through Ceske Budejovice and into Austria. Through the impressive town of Linz on our way to the "Sound of Music" city of Salzburg. The balance of the afternoon is at leisure - you may care to sip a refreshing cup of coffee in a sidewalk cafe, or just relax. Dinner and overnight at our hotel.
DAY 08: SALZBURG / MUNICH. Our morning sightseeing tour will include the Cathedral, Getreidegasse pedestrian shopping street, Hohensalzburg Medieval Fortress and then Mirabell Palace. A visit will also be made to the birthplace of the famous composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. We then drive through splendid alpine scenery on our way to Munich, the lively capital of the Bavarian region of Germany. We will see the Marienplatz with the gothic Town Hall, Frauenkirche, Residenz Palace, Nymphenburg and other points of interest. Dinner and overnight at our hotel.
DAY 09: MUNICH / USA. Transfer this morning to Munich Airport for our return flight to the United States at the end of our memorable tour.
